When this has happened to me as well, it's simply a matter of packet
loss. sipX for some reason is extremely sensitive to packet loss when it
comes to the signaling and it likes to send BYE whenever something isn't
100% perfect.

I'm not sure I believe this.  By its design, sipXecs is more likely to leave 
you with a "hung" call if there are packet loss problems.  If you've got a 
trace of a call that fails, we might be able to diagnose your problem.
