In the middle of me playing with the sipx install at my house (for other reasons entirely) - I thought I'd try setting up calling between the courthouse and my house. Much easier than I thought it would be.
Is there a reason to not do the following (referring to my upcoming install between 2 locations): 1) have all calls come into the sipx install at the main location 2) setup each user on the main location server 3) setup said user to forward to #ext (so 1234 => 71234) 4) tell anything with a 7 to route to the other sipx install (via an unmanaged gateway) 5) outbound calls would be sent directly to the patton pri gateway This would do the following: 1) off load voicemail to the secondary server 2) allow people at the offsite location to plug their phone into another location (since we are just simultaneously forwarding - this should work...)? 3) gives capability to utilize fxo devices for additional routing options I think it solves a couple issues (people can move at will / keeps the voicemail server local / they can still call between extensions if T1 is down / can add backup routes). Any reason not to do it this way? This message and any files transmitted with it are intended only for the individual(s) or entity named.
