On an updated CentOS system you should get [r...@sipxecs ~]# rpm -q openssl openssl-0.9.8e-12.el5_4.6 Openssl introduced fips between 0.9.8b and 0.9.8e and therefore 0.9.8b won't recognize that instruction. If you decide to update your entire system system (yum update) you will have better luck with the newer stunnel package but i don't know if it's strictly necessary.
