I thought that it might work with IP.. after configuring a local DNS server, I
now get unauthorized user which is a good sign.. Thanks a lot

Configure the domain name and not the IP address of your server. SipXecs will
work much better when using domain name, as it has access to domain
registration information that way – srv records, sips, etc.

Subject: [sipx-users] Registration issue

Hi All,

I have installed sipX today and all went well with the installation.. for hours
and I have been trying to register a softphone and just can't make it to work.
I have used Xlite, Zoiper and even Cisco 7940 phones...

the registration is just timing out... I installed wireshark on the server , I
see Request: Register then Status: 100 Trying and then Status: 408 Request
timeout.

- I can ping the server just fine
- server is listening on port 5060
- I disable NAT on the server
- used both IP and Host to register with the server
-intranet subnets are set
-ICE disabled on the softphone and also forced to use port 5060
- Configuration Test was done on the server, all passed except DHCP test which
is not running on the network

there is one thing that I see in wireshark is when getting error 408, I see
that source port is 5060 and destination port is 7991.. could that be the
reason? I have also attached the softphone phone debug to this email (see
something about "trying to add a native transport on port: 5060" binding
0.0.0.0)

User Datagram Protocol, Src Port: sip (5060), Dst Port: 7991 (7991)
Source port: sip (5060)
Destination port: 7991 (7991)
