This week I stumbled upon a nice tool for picking the best host when multiple servers are available. Traditionally this would be a process if pinging, trace-routing and then deciding (many times subjectively) which host to use. This tool does it all for you quickly and weights the results according to ping time and hops.
Example: j...@jim-desktop:~/netselect$ ./netselect -vv dallas.voip.ms houston.voip.ms chicago.voip.ms newyork.voip.ms Running netselect to choose 1 out of 4 addresses. .................................... dallas.voip.ms 14 ms 10 hops 60% ok ( 3/ 5) [ 46] chicago.voip.ms 32 ms 9 hops 90% ok ( 9/10) [ 66] houston.voip.ms 24 ms 10 hops 90% ok ( 9/10) [ 54] newyork.voip.ms 51 ms 10 hops 90% ok ( 9/10) [ 114] 46 dallas.voip.ms http://apenwarr.ca/netselect/ ...I'll be adding this to the toolbox. -- Jim Canfield Emstar Solutions, LLC _______________________________________________ sipx-users mailing list sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users/
