OK, now that I've finally got sipXecs updated from 4.0.4 to 4.2.1, it sounds
like I should be updating my IP550 and IP650 phones from 3.1.3 to 3.2.1, right?

If I read this right, sipXecs 4.2.x supports 3.2.3 firmware on Polycom IP650
phones, but not on Polycom IP550 phones?

don't confuse 'sipx supports' vs what polycom supports.
obviously, you can't put a new firmware on an old device that doesn't support
it, or old firmware on a new device.

Specifically, even if sipx would like to use 3.2.1+ 3.2.2, you might be forced
to use 3.2.3 on newer polycom's.
(note: each firmware has their little quirks. 3.2.3 seems to NOT work unless
you are running wirespeed 1gb switches in your network)

also check polycom's site for their firmware matrix when deciding what devices
to use.

ps, I tried 3.2.3 on 650, and:
#1, dialing the AA, or Vmail, I got spotty audio
#2, MOST OF THE TIME, a call to the 650 got me AA and the phone only rang once.
I am running 3.2.1 on everything here.
