I found an old post/problem on the list which I am encountering as well.

I'm encountering the same problem as below.

I have an unmanaged gateway (aculab applianx ip gateway) and on all
incoming calls from the gateway sipxecs replies with 404 not found, but
user(s) exists so it should not return 404.

 

I checked with wireshark and the number is dialed correctly, I can ping
my server from the gateway, and the other way around.

Can't seem to find out where the problem lies, since the phones can be
dialed internally.

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated J

We are testing the Unmanaged Gateway setting on UDP port 5060. We can
make

outbound calls with no problem. 

 

However, inbound calls get a fast busy. Looking at a debug, we see the

message, 404 Not Found, coming from the sipX server. The phones are

registered with the system. All phones and the gateway have the latest

profiles. We have SIP Trunking disabled.

 

Has anyone else seen this before?

It could be many things, and speculating for you won't fix the issue.
Last

week I had that error because of a MOH issue.

 

Hear it is in a nutshell - Client Error (4xx): The request contains bad

syntax or cannot be fulfilled at the server.    404 specifically is Not

Found.

 

You will need to do a trace and view it with sipxviewer or wireshark.

or you can...

 

 

tail -f /var/log/sipXpbx/sipXproxy.log

 

 

and see what number the invite is going to to see the format.
