acme packet -- ah.

so as long as the carrier/itsp offers t.38 it should work.

as far as sbc's go:

if the sbc registers your trunk(s) and/or has a dialplan its own to separate
trunking from sipx traffic and if you have remote users and the remote users
show the private ip of the ACME as their contact/register uri you can use
port 5060 for everything in the acme. in this instance sipx would have to
know nothing about nat, media relay or remote users. its trunks would be
unmanaged gateways within sipx all pointing to your sbc/acme.

if sipx is managing the trunk (registration, etc.) then all invites would
need to come to it in on port 5080 and you would be required to use this
role.

This is the way it has always been.

warning: removing trunking role requires a rebuild of sip trunks...
