Hi,

I'm new to voip in general and sipxtapi in particular and could use a
couple of pointers to help me establish a baseline.

I'm working with the sipXtapi libraries on an Ubuntu 6.06LTS 32 bit
system. I've fetched the sources from svn:.../branches/3.6 and [after
chasing down various build dependencies] everything built smoothly.

As a positive control I've been able to install linphone via Synaptic
and place a call to a friend w/ a sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
url.

I have a sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] url.

Both he and I are behind NATing routers.

I can't get examples/PlaceCall/PlaceCall to complete a call with him.
His phone will ring and he can accept the call, but nothing happens.

Here's where I'd like a push. I figure I should do something even
simpler, and tried running

   ReceiveCall -l

in one window, and have been fishing around with various forms of
PlaceCall to make a connection, just to see it work. Nothings worked
out though.

And the question: What would be a good/simple zeroth-level test of the
libraries, e.g. talking to myself, or...

Thanks!

g.
