Not to be snippy, but is there a reason that bash would be prefered to perl here? perl is a requirement for SIS, so it being a requirement for the installer doesn't seem to be that bad of a thing.

When I ran installer.pl on some version of Red Hat Linux (awhile back) it was complaining about the Perl modules not being installed. I guess I got the impression that these requirements were unique to the installer.pl.
Hmm... is that totally wrong?
