Greetings,
I'm just starting with System Imager and trying to get the latest version
working with some IBM eSeries 305s running RedHat 7.3. I downloaded all the
RPMs, and all the appropriate Perl modules as well. With the documentation
and mailing lists I worked my way past several problems but I now find
myself up against this one:
The bootloader fails to install and thus the systems will not boot.
I found Chris Dagdigian's posting from March that mentions:
- /boot needs to be at the beginning of the disk. (OK)
- Need to use LILO. (Definitely not OK)
- Need to remove partition labels from /etc/fstab. (Can do.)
- Hand editing <clientImage>.master autoinstall scripts (Getting
less desireable)
The "auto" in "autoinstall" is losing it's truthfulness.
Are there any plans to remedy these situations any time in the near future?
If so, I can make this work for awhile and am willing to do so as it really
seems like a good solution, and because I already have "sunk costs"
associated with doing this.
I also found a message from Richard stating:
" One important step I didn't mention was the need to copy grub and
grub-install and support stage files in /usr/share/grub/i386-redhat/ to
the $SI/initrd_source/skel/{sbin,bin,/usr/share} directories. I then did
a make binaries and a make install_binaries to create a new initrd. The
systemimager default initrd doesn't have the grub binaries installed."
I'd do this, but there is no initrd_source in the $SI directory so I'm
stumped on how to get to this point. Help would definitely appreciated.
