Hi, I've recently come across some postings about the necessity for a x86_64 kernel for imaging Opterons and EM64T machines, and have found some difficulties myself. I resolved them by building a separate kernel for these machines.. but:
Isn't it possible to do everthing systemimager needs without the "chroot" part? I think it would be much easier to use dd for the mbr, instead of chroot and 'lilo' or "grub-install". Without the chroot part there would only be one kernel/initrd/boel_binaries needed with all the new hardware drivers, not different kernels for different architectures. Anyone have any ideas about this? Am I forgetting something? Any impossibilities? greetings, Gerben -- Linvision HPC BV tel: +31-15-7502310 Elektronicaweg 16 d fax: +31-15-7502319 2628 XG Delft [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Netherlands www.linvision.com ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases.
