I don't remember other cases of missing files if images are in a NFS
mounted dir...

Anyway you should consider to upgrade to 3.7.3 and use a different
transport instead of rsync, for example BitTorrent; in this way the
image is tarred in a single file an pushed to the clients using bittorrent.

Otherwise with 3.6.3 you can try with flamthrower that uses a similar
approach.
