Are you running the latest version? I had troubles with the ramdisk and
kernel appends in version prior.

Also have you tried a larger ramdisk from the boot: prompt or are you
adding it in your pxelinux.cfg?

I used the bootable cd method and not PXE so I may not be much help but
these tips may assist.
