Dear All

Further to my previous email, I've done a bit more digging and it appears I
have two problems. I intend to address these separately.

PROBLEM 2

In order to overcome the problem I described in my previous email, eg solve the
problem whereby the machines cloned from the golden client ended up with the
same network config as the golden client, I tried to add some overrides to the
image server. For each machine there is a folder structure as follows <machine
name> /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts containing the following files:
ifcfg-eth0, ifcfg-eth1, ifcfg-bond0.

In addition there are two sets of overrides <server type>/etc/init.d/network,
where <server type> is one of RealServer or Director (these servers are
intended to form part of a Linux Virtual Server). The network script for the
Directors has been amended to hide the relevent interfaces.

I have tried installing one server that'd be classed as a real server and one
that'd be classed as a director. After both installs the servers when the
machine reboots it has no hostname set (at all - not even localhost) and no
network interfaces configured. Everything seems to have copied across from the
image server, including the overrides and the /etc/sysconfig/network file
contains the correct host name.

I have tried reinstalling the servers (this time using pxe boot) and get the
same error While trying to figure the problem out I have discovered the
following problems:

1. /etc/init.d created as directory not link to /etc/rc.d/init.d - hence
no networking
2. nothing installed in /boot - but server still reboots?

Also the main file system is mounted RO.

Any ideas what I may have done wrong?

Regards

Paul
