I am transistioning someone from a setup with one Linux server and several Win95 clients to a setup with 2 or more Linux servers and several Ubuntu clients and several Win95 clients.
Before installing SystemImager the DHCP was set up with three subnets, external, 192.168.0.0, and 192.168.1.0. Most systems serviced by DHCP have their own stanza which maps their MAC address to their assigned IP address. Most are on the 192.168.1.0 network. Most systems boot off their own local hard drives BUT the tftp boot server was set up for network booting. When the clients boot from the network they get a menu from which they can choose to boot diagnostics (pxeknife), SystemRescueCD, Knoppix, etc. (using the vesamenu.c32 stuff). I have installed SystemImager 4.1.6 and would like to integrate the half dozen new clients that will use SystemImager into the existing DHCP setup (and preferably the menu as well). Does anyone have any recommendations as to how best to achieve this? Even of the don't even try it kind. Does anyone have any examples of such a "mixed" setup? Thanks R.Parr, RHCE, Temporal Arts Portland, OR U.S.A. P.S. If anyone has any good references for PXE booting, especially the menu stuff, I would appreciate it. I've gotten it working fairly well (up to now) but it has taken a lot of trial an error because of lack of docs/examples. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ sisuite-users mailing list sisuite-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/sisuite-users
