Hi everyone, I am enjoying Skim very much, but there is one aspect that is eluding me: when I am in a Print dialog and use the Preview button, it runs Preview.app, not Skim.app. I get this behaviour in every Print Dialog I've tried, including Safari.app and Mail.app.
I have set the default application for displaying PDF files to be Skim in the usual ways and this has an effect in the Finder but it doesn't seem to affect the Print Dialog. I found a net post somewhere that suggested I look in /private/tmp while previewing to find the temporary file created to show in Preview.app. (The folder will be something like /private/tmp/ printing.nnn where nnn is the process ID of the app doing the printing.) I did this and found the .pdf file there. Sure enough, it has Skim as its application and does in fact open in Skim from the Finder. Nevertheless, it opens in Preview.app from the Print Dialog. I've even used the RCDefaultApp preferences pane to examine in detail the file types that Preview is set to open. As far as I can see it's not set to open any of the PDF types or extensions. So, at this point, I am stumped. Are other people seeing this behaviour on their systems? Does anyone know how to fix it so that Skim is used in all cases? thanks, Tony Sloane ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
