That didn't do it. When I tried executing from the terminal I was in  
the directory of the file.

But I also tried executing with the full path, as you say. I get a  
slightly different error:

-bash: /Users/iwerning/Desktop/skimraiseslyx: /usr/bash: bad  
interpreter: No such file or directory
