AFAIK Skim and Preview print in the same way, namely leaving it to  
PDFKit. However the way default settings are handled may be slightly  
different, but you can control all that from the print panel. Though  
the only difference I can see now is that Preview uses "only scale  
down large pages" while Skim uses "No automatic page scaling" by  
default.
