I'm not saying it's not possible to do it. I'm saying it's not going to happen. 
The discussion probably did not mention the extension .skim an in any way 
because it predated the existence of such files. The conclusion was the current 
support for .skim files, which was a compromise. And the maximum that will be 
offered. I'm not going to repeat that discussion again (and again and again and 
again).
