I thought about this myself, and I agree that adding an interface  
element for this functionality would not be worth the clutter.  The  
other option would be a hidden preference ...

There clearly is a well-defined order (i.e. based on 8-bit HSBA  
components), however there is no 1-dimensional ordering of colors that  
matches our natural perception of colorspace.
