Also, when you open an existing file (and in fact, that is what you almost
always do in Skim), it will just save to the location from where you open it.
The default saving path is only used for new documents that had no location yet
(the only wy you can get that in Skim is if you open a new file from the
clipboard.) This is all standard document style architecture determined by the
system (not by Skim.) If you want to save the file to a different location
than from where you opened it, you should use Save As.
