BTW it is possible to hack Skim to allow any download. Though it will break
Skim's ability to remember passwords.
To do this run the following in the Terminal (must be on one line):
defaults write /Applications/Skim.app/Contents/Info.plist
NSAppTransportSecurity -dict NSAllowsArbitraryLoads -bool true
