Well, what's current browsers? With HTML5 (and modern browsers) you get the ability to drag & drop into the text area. That alone might be interesting to people. Also the HTML5 autofocus is a nice touch. HTML version support is out of the scope of this mailing list, I think, since neither Phil's post or my post are part of SKS proper. None of these are "vital capabilities" but for those that care it is nifty. Just because we use "scary geek stuff" doesn't mean our web pages have to look or function like man pages.
