The -h option should take care of that, but in your example you seem to specify 
a db file rather than the PTree dir, hence the errors

Thanks, do I need to set DB_HOME, when using the commands in [0]? I
tried running the recover, but I think it failed.

root@mira:/var/lib/sks# db5.1_recover -h PTree/__db.001
db5.1_recover: DB_ENV->open: Not a directory
