Not sure this ever got answered. I don't understand the bit about your history being turned off, but I bet you accidentally redefined the Skype command key, which is a fairly new script feature. If your upArrow key keeps saying "Skype" and requireing you to hit it twice to get anywhere, do the following to fix it:
1. Type JAWSKey+V to go into the Verbosity options list for JAWS. 2. Arrow down to the line that says "Skype command key," and press the Space bar once. 3. When prompted for a new Skype command key, tap the left bracket key once. This key is the key to the right of the letter P on standard keyboards. 4. You will hear, "Updating Skype command key," then after a pause, the "Skype command key" line will read again, with the positional information (like "5 of 23") at the end. 5. If the JAWS verbosity list does not close all by itself, Escape out of it. You should now have your upArrow key back. On Sat, Mar 15, 2008 at 07:17:31PM -0400, Diane Karabin wrote: Hi. I'm a new member to the list. I'll try and explain this the best I can. I was in the skype options somewhere and it said something about a command key. It didn't read so I routed Jaws to pc and hit the up arrow key. Now it thinks it's some kind of command. Anyway, I tried to go into my history and read a link and it says in the menus, "On line history turned off>;; I uninstalled skype and re-did it, thinking it would go back to the defaults but that thing was still there. How can I fix it? Thanks much. I'm not much of a tech person, but I've learned a lot. Thanks for posting to the skype english list.
