Hi I did use the pen drive on mine as well. What you need to do to replace the old version of skype to the new 1 is: copy the skype 3.8 to the pen drive (skype.exe) I have found that helpful, however I sometimes think that there is no point of having it if a) admin don't want people to use skype @ work or some people don't want to run it on the machine weather it is from a pen drive or pc or even if u have already got skype on the pc anyway but it is a useful feature.
