I am releasing Skype 4 beta script revision 4b4, an update to 4b3 for
those people who are playing with the Skype 4 beta releases. I
continue to recommend that most users stick to Skype 3.8 though,
because it is more feature complete than the Skype 4 beta versions.

The updated scripts remain at

Here are the features in 4b4 as compared to 4b3:

Typing indicator sounds and announcements work in Skype 4!

Alt+numbers again read chat messages without reading blank
items at the end of the chat entry list.

Automatic announcement of incoming chat messages is now much
more reliable, as in Skype 3.

Alt+1 forces the last items in the current conversation
to display. I need this for typing indicator support.

Links in virtualized chats should now work more often.

Ctrl+6 reads the current conversation's contact profile window but
does not switch focus to it because this can still crash Skype.
This makes it easier to find out the local time for a contact
you're typing with. You'll probably not be able to read anything
with Ctrl+6 until after your contact sends his or her first chat
line though, because until then, Skype does not always display
      that information visually either.

The Applications key should no longer occasionally cause funny
side effects like unexpected calls. This was a timing issue.

JAWS now says "Signing in" when Skype is signing in.

JAWSKey+Q correctly says these scripts are for Skype 4, not
          Skype 3.
