Actually, the statement against using Compact mode was based on Skype
3.5 and 3.6, as indicated on the page with that advice.  Skype 4 beta2
has a Compact mode also, and it seems to work fine with the beta
scripts, according to my limited testing of that configuration.  In
Compact mode, chats spring open into their own windows as they did in
Skype 3.x.  However, the Ctrl+Tab and Command c <number> commands do
not work to jump among chats in Skype 4.  You'd have to Alt+Tab among
them.
