My understanding is that Skype does support command-line options as described. Make sure you're not including a command-line option inside quote marks that also wrap the Skype path. Here's what should be a valid command line, for a cmd.exe prompt or the Run box. Quotes are to be included as shown here:
"C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /nosplash Btw, I doubt all these options are supported currently in the betas of Skype 4.
