Hi, John. Have you gone to the control panel, "Sounds and audio category, Audio page, and in the recording default device, checked your microphone as the default device?
Sometimes the microphone will work in other applications without this setting being checked. In my experience, skype doesn't always work without this being checked. Thank you.
