I am running Windows 7 64bit with JAWS 11 and 4.2. I had the same issue so I went into sounds in the Tool Menu and looked at Mute Sounds. I hit Enter on it to Mute and then went back in and hit Enter again to Unmute all Sounds. Now they work and I can't give you answer as to why.
