Hi Chris. If you see a Hide and Cancel button, that means Skype is
downloading the update. Use the JAWS cursor to monitor the download
progress.
Meanwhile, if you're brave enough to want to try Skype 5.6 (which is not all
that different from 5.5), try the following link:
http://blogs.skype.com/garage/2011/10/skype_56_updated_for_windows_release_notes.html
When the page opens, find the download link and press Enter.

Subject: [Skypeenglish] updating to latest version of Skype for Windows
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to update to Skype version 5.5 or whatever the latest
version is. When I go to the help menu and select check for updates, I
click the download button and nothing happens. I'm taken to a page
where the only options I have are "hide button" and cancel button. Can
someone tell me how to download the update? I also tried skype.com,
but couldn't find a link to download the latest version. So if someone
could send me the direct link, that would be great. Thanks!
