Could both of you please send me your default.jss after an installation attempt? If you can't get JAWS to work after an install attempt, run it by typing jaws12 /default in the Windows Run box. If this is uncomfortable for you to mess with because of the lack of speech at that point, I'll understand. I put out a beta version of the scripts with this installer on Twitter two weeks ago, expecting any problems like this to surface then. Apparently there is something special happening to you two that was not happening for any of the volunteers that tested that beta. My sincere apologies for the problems with JAWS resulting from the installer failures. I would not have released an installer that I thought capable of doing this to anyone. When sending default.jss, either paste it into your reply to this list or send it directly to me as an attachment. Do not try sending it to the list as an attachment, because I believe this list removes those. Thanks much for any help. What exactly did you see happen, and if you got an error log, which would come up in Notepad after the installer exits, send that here please, so I can see what happened to you. The rest of this message may not apply to you, but I'll put it out here in case anyone else has seen it... I have received a few reports that cracked JAWS 12 installations will crash when attempting to compile the Skype 6.9 scripts. This is interesting to me because all normally installed JAWS versions from 10.0 up should be able to handle the way I'm doing things starting in the 6.9 script installer; but I don't really support cracks on purpose as I'm sure you can imagine. :-) The symptoms I've heard of for this crash in cracked JAWS 12 situations include "Don't Send" error boxes from the JAWS Script Manager if you try to compile default.jss manually, some sort of command-line compiler error from the script installer when it tries to compile the scripts for you, and in effect, no way to compile default.jss without asking someone to do it for you. Again, I don't know why this is happening, but I only see it happening in cracked JAWS installations.
