Cara, como que voc consegue valores menores do que 1 segundo (0.4) com o
sleep usando shell script (bash)?

Usando um sleep razoavelmente recente -;)
Take a look:
--------------
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ /usr/bin/sleep --help
Usage: /usr/bin/sleep NUMBER[SUFFIX]...
  or: /usr/bin/sleep OPTION
Pause for NUMBER seconds. SUFFIX may be `s' for seconds (the default),
`m' for minutes, `h' for hours or `d' for days. Unlike most implementations that require NUMBER be an integer, here NUMBER may
be an arbitrary floating point number.

Ta -:) sleep 5.2.1, que vem no coreutils-5.2.1 -;)
