pessoal, problema resolvido.
O proftp estava apontando para um arquivo em outro diretório, e como 
estava mudando o proftpd.conf que estava no /etc, não estava adiantando 
de nada.

Percebi isso quando mudei o cabeçalho da conexão e não surtiu nem uma 
alteração.
