Because this issue seems to be specific to my new desktop and Dell Latitude
E5410 I decided to use pip rather than the SlackBuild scripts.
I very much doubt that this be a hardware issue.
There were no issues with python2 packages but for reasons still unknown
there are local issues.
Maybe the same reasons that caused the initial issue.
So we didn't learn anything :sigh:
