Hi everyone,

I have returned to Slackware (for context, my previous email address was
isaac...@isaacyu1.com).
I now have more time to maintain SlackBuilds.

I liked using Debian for these past few months. However, I just miss the
customization that Slackware provides me.
Maybe I will quit again when Debian 13 gets released?

Regarding my SlackBuilds:

- I plan on orphaning the following 2 packages:
python3-shtab (I am not especially interested in bash/zsh completions for
trash-cli, a package I am maintaining).
android-file-transfer (I am not using this package anymore)

- Data science (ex. jupyter-notebook, jupyterlab):
I will not be updating jupyter-notebook or jupyterlab themselves.
jupyterlab > 3.5.3 requires a newer version of python-requests (Slackware 15.0
only has python-requests 2.26).
In addition, jupyter-notebook > 7 requires jupyterlab >= 4.0.2.
However, I have pushed a fix for running jupyter-notebook:
https://github.com/SlackBuildsOrg/slackbuilds/pull/4227

I will be updating dependencies of jupyter-notebook and jupyterlab (but not as
frequently as I used to).
I plan on taking over maintenance of spyder and updating it to 5.4.0 (I think
Larry Hajali, the maintainer of spyder, is inactive).

- LXQt:
I will not update LXQt from 1.3.0 to 1.4.0.
LXQt 1.4.0 requires newer KDE components on Slackware 15.0.
For example, liblxqt 1.4.0 requires kwindowsystem >= 5.101.0 (Slackware 15.0
only has kwindowsystem 5.90.0).
However, I plan on upgrading pcmanfm-qt (one of the LXQt programs) to 1.4.0.
pcmanfm-qt does not depend on an older KDE component.

https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/lxqt-1-4-0-for-slackware-15-0-current-incl-distributions-based-on-slackware-4175730874/

- Qtile:
I will not be updating qtile.

Wayland support for qtile 0.23.0 requires wlroots 0.16.x.
Slackware 15.0 can only build wlroots 0.15.x at the latest.
wlroots 0.16.x requires libdrm >= 2.4.113 (Slackware 15 only has libdrm
2.4.109).
Therefore, updating qtile to 0.23.0 will break Wayland support.
