Apologies for being a bit rude, but SBo's Haskell approach makes little
sense. Most (if not all) Haskell packages are providing _static_
libraries, and there is no sense installing them systemwide, it only
confuses the build system.

You're not being rude, you're expressing an opinion. I don't know
enough about Haskell to agree or disagree with you, but hopefully it
causes further discussion among those who do know.

So if we stopped having systemwide libraries for haskell, pandoc
would have 197 source file downloads (the way a go or rust build does)
instead of 196 package dependencies? That's a little better, but not
much better. I'd still prefer pandoc-bin.
