I made some linking between issues about server-side management of sky settings and other 'Windlight' things.
Meta-Issue : Estate Improvements http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-541 Estate / Sim Windlight preset / day cycle options http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7677 The Windlight Project is unfinished http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2736 Please read/comment/vote as you feel appropriate on http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7677 and related issues. Personally I think that the most important issue is described by Lex Neva in the first comment at http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2736 What is the status of this topic as a whole? Did anyone work on it at Linden Lab since last year? An idea: what about creating a new GUI widget that lets users choose Sky Presets more easily than the current 5-steps way e.g. World > Env.Settings > Env.Editor > Adv.Sky > Sky Presets ? Then at least land managers could suggest to visitors which Sky preset to choose, and visitors could do it more easily. Or, in alternative, a new shortcut that directly opens the Sky Presets floater may do the trick as well. I quickly tried to do that myself by reading wiki instructions and modifying XML files, but I had no luck yet. This wouldn't solve the issue of custom presets - but it may be an easier task to accomplish as (I think) it wouldn't require heavy reworking of the whole subsystem. Maybe an idea for the open source project? (note - I didn't found an existing specific PJIRA issue about this idea and I did not create one yet) ciao Opensource Obscure _______________________________________________ Policies and (un)subscribe information available here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/SLDev Please read the policies before posting to keep unmoderated posting privileges
