I don't use Greasemonkey, and I think that most users don't use it or won't install it. But Marv's proposal could be a good alternative solution if Linden Lab couldn't implement this new feature in a reasonable time. Thanks for your offer!
I think that the free-speech issue shouldn't be discussed on this list, as I think it's sort of off-topic. It's an important topic though. Both "ignore forum user" and "free speech" topics have been debated in this thread on the official forums: http://forums.secondlife.com/showthread.php?t=309660 Free speech has a *great* value to me. I wrote what I think about "ignore" feature and free speech in this reply: http://forums.secondlife.com/showpost.php?p=2340656&postcount=75 ciao, Opensource Obscure On Thu, 30 Apr 2009 13:19:34 +0100, SignpostMarv Martin <[email protected]> wrote: > I could add this with Gears + Greasemonkey. :-P > > I would've already done this, but a convo with Gwyn on the topic of free > speech changed my mind. > > I'll consider doing it if there's sufficient demand :-) > > > ~ Marv. > > Opensource Obscure wrote: >> I just created http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-1074 >> that is - 'Blog comments need "Ignore this user" feature' >> >> Please comment and vote it, if you agree this option >> may be useful in some cases. >> Here are some details about it. >> >> A relevant number of people use / abuse the blog comments. >> Some examples: >> * slighlty offensive / provoking statements against other residents >> * bashing Linden Lab's work >> * going off-topic >> * asking help instead of using Support >> * complaining about bugs instead of using PJIRA >> >> I want to be able to 'mute' (on my side) those blog users >> that I think are consistently abusing the comments system, >> and / or using it to flame and start unuseful arguments. >> >> This is already working on the forum - I need a similar >> feature on the blog. >> >> As a non-english mother tongue reader, having to read many >> comments makes the blogs reading very hard to me. >> >> Every tool that helps me to avoid unuseful comments is good. >> This can't be accomplished with technichal features, but - >> I found on the SL forums that "Ignore this user" is a very >> helpful feature.
