That's the same basic kind of race that's plagued vehicles on border crossings for a long time too -- the reason that they temporarily try to snap to <0,0,0> for a brief (or not so brief) moment. It's not unreasonable to expect one or two similar manifestations.

So whoever looks into that might also want to look at the code from the
