A quick Google search for "http post max length" can turn up some answers and solutions. If you're using PHP, then there's a maximum length defined there, that can also be changed. Default is something like two megs, I believe.
http://www.google.com/search?q=http+post+max+length GET, on the other hand, is something like 2k. I forget. I'm sure a similar Google search will turn up information if you care about the get request method.
