Hi,

I'd like to request a vote on a release plan for Slide 1.0.

The latest version of the relase plan can also be accessed at:
http://cvs.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/~checkout~/jakarta-slide/RELEASE-PLAN-1.0

The release plan is approved by a lazy majority by the committers of the
Slide
project. The voting period will end on 09/08/2001, or as soon as a clear
majority emerged.

<ballot>
[ ] +1 I am in favor of this plan and I will help
[ ] +0 I am in favor of this plan, but I am unable to help
[ ] -0 I am not in favor of this plan
[ ] -1 I am opposed to this plan being executed,
          and my reason is:

</ballot>

The release manager for the release has still to be determined. I'll
volunteer
if nobody else does.

Remy

Release Plan for Apache Slide 1.0
---------------------------------

This document is a release plan for a 1.0 release of the Apache Slide
project
(called "Slide" in the rest of this document). This release plan must be
adopted by the Apache Slide committers with a lazy majority vote, as per the
Apache Software Foundation bylaws
(http://jakarta.apache.org/site/decisions.html).

Slide 1.0 aims to provide a stable WebDAV-centric Content Management System,
as described on the project home page (http://jakarta.apache.org/slide/).
The release intends to provide :

1) Compliance with the WebDAV level 2 IETF Internet Standard, and the WebDAV
Access Control Protocol IETF Internet Draft (currently in last call phase).

2) Binary compatibility for Slide 1.x releases.

3) Advanced integration capabilities.

4) Documentation (website and API Javadoc).

A separate release plan will be published for other Slide development
branches
(1.1 or later).

Release Manager: TBD. Either Remy Maucherat, Juergen Pill or Dirk Verbeeck.

Release schedule
----------------

* Slide 1.0.15 Beta
  Released between 09/23/2001 and 09/30/2001

* Slide 1.0.16 Release (or Beta if necessary)
  Released between 10/14/2001 and 10/28/2001

* Slide 1.0.17 Release (if 1.0.16 is released as a beta)
  Released between 11/04/2001 and 11/25/2001

Features
--------

In Apache terminology, a beta should be considered feature complete.
Discussion
on individual features which should be added before going to beta status
should
happen on the Slide developers mailing list.
