STUFF TO BE REMOVED *NOW*

As a non-committer, I strongly object on the removal of "Attic" directories.

Removing attic means that Slide will never be able to reconstruct from CVS older releases of the code, and also, I believe that "legally" the ASF board wouldn't like that to happen (you know, just in case someone sue us for some code committed to CVS in the future).

The ASF has a strong policy on preserving history _AT_ANY_COST_ (note that we still have all the Apache releases in CVS, since January 1996, for example http://cvs.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/apache-1.2/README this is httpd 1.2)

Pier, wait.

Oliver is talking about a directory that *he* created called "attic", not the CVS one "Attic". We had a discussion in the past about the fact that the name "attic" was a bad idea because it could generate confusion (as it's the case, already).

He is referring about the removal of *his* "attic" in order to avoid potential confusion like this one and the community reached consensus on using the *REAL* attic for old stuff by using "cvs delete" also because the dead code goes out of the way and it's easier for users to get along.

Don't worry, we are not messing up with history ;-)
