All right! I can confirm I picked all the right stuff this time.
The server starts up OK, the database has been populated and I can
browse the repository with HTTP. I still have problems opening the
repository with Internet Explorer and had to turn off authentication,
but tomorrow is an other day.
I will summarize my configuration so that this can be reused.
MySQL is version 4.1.3 here is the status
