temp "solution" found.
If I shut down apache and set tomcat to port 80 the search works! So it seems that mod_jk has a bug or I'm missing a configuration?
Any comments, or am I just talk-talk-talking to myself :)

The setup is Apache/2.0.52 (Win32) mod_jk/1.2.8-dev-rc-1 with tomcat 5
My mod_jk log says

Any ideas what the crap is happening?
