Which version of slide are you using?
What error messages are you getting?
I have not used slide server as a standalone server and not quite familiar with it.
However I successfully run slide as webapp with tomcat talk to MySQL.
BTW, have you put MySQL's jdbc driver into slide server?

from server/conf/slide directory and Domain.xml (from slide.war).
Do I have to change another file?
