Yes, I agree, pre processing makes sense as well. In order to have a meaningfull pre and post processing, both phases should get a list of changes that are intended to be done (pre) and are done (post). While the pre processing can modify this list of changes, the post processing can only do additional things.

I don't think that the list of actions is known upfront. Because this list is built as the actions re executed. (Right now).

So preprocessing would probably mainly mean looking at the request parameters and fiddle around with them before they are handed over to the actual processing. Hmm, this sounds like validation, we once were discussing (but dismissing).
