yes, I think it would make sense to use it at least for the java servlet stuff. I've already created a bug for this :) In the end it might make sense to use it for the jsp stuff as well, but this would a) require to move the new bundle out of contrib (which is not that problematic) and b) it might require changes in the copied jsp code which might make updating the jasper stuff more difficult.
